Open to Everyone

Accessibility

Our house is open... to everyone! The Wyvern Theatre is proud to be a welcoming and accessible venue for all to enjoy. We will always endeavour to support all our patrons to access and enjoy our events. Below you can find a variety of information to help you plan your visit.

Sign Language Interpreted Performances

The Wyvern Theatre organises sign-language-interpreted performances. A sign interpreter will stand to the side of the stage and interpret the spoken and heard elements for deaf and hard-of-hearing customers.

Hearing Assistance: Mobile Connect System

Our venue now has a Wi-Fi based system called Mobile Connect. The Mobile Connect system amplifies the performance via your personal mobile phone or tablet.

Anyone using this system will be able to hear a live feed of the performance on stage (with Audio Description if attending an Audio Described performance) through a headset or directly through their hearing aids from wherever they are sat throughout the auditorium. If you are listening through hearing aids, please request a neck loop.

If you have either an iPhone/iPod/iPad or an android smartphone you can download the FREE Sennheiser Mobile Connect App from the App Store/Google Play.

Bring your fully charged device with the latest version of the app installed and your own headphones to use in the venue. Please make sure you bring your phone or tablet fully charged and be aware that your battery could be fully depleted by the end of the show. You may want to bring a “battery bank” with you so that you can re-charge your device if needed.

Connect to the Mobile Connect Wi Fi network once inside the auditorium on arrival and make sure that your data is switched off and your phone is on silent and in Airplane mode. Mobile Connect still works in Airplane mode and this ensures any mobile noise will not disturb others.

If you do not have your own device, our venues have a limited number of devices and headphones available for use.

If you have any queries or would like to speak to a member of our team about this service, please contact us on 01793 535534.

Accessible seating

To purchase accessible seats, including wheelchair spaces please contact our Ticket Office on 01793 535534

For those who require assistance to attend either venue, we offer one complimentary carer ticket with your booking. (Verification is required).

We ask patrons with wheelchairs to note that Wheelchair spaces are designed for standard size wheelchairs – if you have a larger size wheelchair please advise when booking.

If you have booked accessible seats at the front of the auditorium, please use our accessible entrance to the right of the theatre. For accessible seats in Box A at the back of the auditorium, please use the Theatre Square entrance, which will take you into the upper foyer.

Toilet Facilities

We have two accessible toilets. One is situated in the lower foyer which is accessible from the stalls and through the ground level external entrance to the theatre. The other is situated inside Box A in the upper foyer between the Ticket Office and our Cafe and is accessible through the Theatre Square main entrance doors.

Disabled Parking

The Wyvern Theatre does not have its own car park but council-controlled car parks are available near the venue.

Guide and Hearing Dogs

If you wish to take your dog into the venue's auditorium, please let us know when booking your ticket – we can then arrange an adjacent seat. Alternatively, dogs can be cared for by a member of staff.

Photo-sensitivity and Respiratory Conditions

For any performance containing strobe lighting, flashing lights, pyrotechnics, haze/smoke and/or loud bangs/explosions, an announcement will be made over the tannoy. If this should concern you or a member of your party, please consult with a duty manager upon arrival.
